Kenton Sees update

Sep 23, 2024 | Our News

The Kenton Sees Project, a cherished initiative by Rotary Club Kenton on Sea, sponsors around 200 patients annually for eye care at Dr. Davies Optometrists in Makhanda. Many patients, who couldn’t otherwise afford it, receive free spectacles or cataract surgeries, along with transportation provided by Rotary.

Marius Henstock, a grateful patient, recently expressed his thanks to Rotary for restoring his sight after a cataract operation. “It was unbelievable. I can see!” he shared. Marius also spoke about Xolile Antoni, a fellow patient who had been nearly blind. Before Xolile’s surgery, Marius would guide him around, but after his operation, Xolile joyfully said, “I don’t need help anymore, I can see again!”

These stories of sight restored, and lives transformed, remind us of the profound impact of this project. Rotary is proud to continue bringing the gift of vision to so many.
